RESEARCH METHODS IN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

With the program's emphasis on the scholarship of teaching and innovative learning experiences, this course is an in-depth treatment of the research process and techniques for planning and designing research projects. Emphasis will be placed on the appropriate choice of methodologies for a variety of problem situations.
This project involved creating a qualitative study of digital literacy in Writing Centers intended to answer the following questions:
What are the perceptions of instructors whose students have undertaken digital literacy tutoring in writing intensive courses?
What are the perceptions of students who undertake digital literacy tutoring in writing intensive courses?
What are the perceptions of tutors who work with students in digital literacy for writing intensive courses?
This project involved creating a quantitative study of digital literacy in Writing Centers intended to answer the following questions:
Does digital literacy tutoring have an effect on pass rates in “writing intensive” coursework?
Does digital literacy tutoring have an effect on grade distribution in “writing intensive” coursework?
What are the perceptions of students who undertake digital literacy tutoring?
This project involved creating a mixed methods study of digital literacy in Writing Centers intended to answer the following questions:
What is the effect of digital literacies tutoring in the Writing Center on students pass rates and grade distributions in “writing intensive” courses?
What are the perceptions of instructors whose students have taken advantage of digital literacy tutoring in the Writing Center as compared to students who have not?
What are the perceptions of students who have taken advantage of digital literacy tutoring in the Writing Center as opposed to students who have not?
